Exploring Icelandic lighthouses and the elements they endure

The Iceland Lighthouse Project is a visual exploration of the country’s coastal sentinels, each one unique in design, character, and the landscape it inhabits. From towering structures to modest beacons, every lighthouse reflects its surroundings and the influence of Iceland’s raw natural elements. This ongoing collection celebrates their individuality while examining how architecture, light, and environment converge along the rugged coastline.

Photographed across a variety of weather and light, from stormy seas to calm sunny days, snow-covered mornings to quiet nights, the project captures the diversity of Iceland’s lighthouses in all their moods. Each image reveals both the resilience of these structures and the dramatic beauty of the landscapes they inhabit, emphasizing the dialogue between human design and the natural world.

As the project continues, it aims to provide a rich portrait of Iceland’s lighthouses, highlighting their distinct forms and the variety of conditions in which they exist. Through these images, the collection celebrates both the diversity of design and the ever-changing character of Iceland’s coastlines.
