A living portrait of Kenya’s wild heart.

Kenya’s Wild Heart is a visual exploration of the country’s breathtaking wildlife that roams its famous national reserves, including the Big Five: the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and African buffalo. These remarkable animals are among the most celebrated in Africa. The term “Big Five” was first used by early game hunters to describe the most challenging animals to hunt on foot, but today it reflects the strength and spirit of African wildlife.

The project spans some of Kenya’s most beautiful and diverse landscapes. In the Masai Mara, lions rest beneath the shade of an acacia tree while vultures perch nearby. A cheetah feeds on a dik dik in the tall grass, and a family of warthogs moves together through the open plains.

At Lake Nakuru, a leopard rests on a large fallen branch, its spotted coat blending into the forest shadows. Not far away, a white rhino scrapes its horn along the bark of a tree.

Around Lake Naivasha and Crescent Island, flamingos soar across the water, their pink wings bright against the old tree skeletons. An African fish eagle swoops down to catch a fish from the surface, while hippos emerge slowly from the shallows.

In Amboseli National Park, a massive herd of elephants moves across the plains, their calves playing beside them. A martial eagle steps with a helmeted guineafowl clasped in its claws, and hyena cubs rest near the entrance of their den. In the calm mist before sunrise, a lone cheetah sits surrounded by scattered acacia trees.

Each encounter reveals something unique — moments of calm, power, and connection, forming a living portrait of Kenya’s wild heart.
